About Me

I am Zijing Zhuang ¹. You are encouraged to call me by my birth name if you are fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Otherwise, I go by Carole.

I am a Fifth-year Ph.D. student in Math at Washington University in St. Louis and on job market in academic year 2026-2027. My academic advisor is Martha Precup.

My academic interests are in the intersection of algebraic geometry, representation theory, and combinatorics. Specifically, I am interested in the various phenomenons raised by the studies of the flag variety. One of my main projects is about nilpotent Hessenberg varieties. I also enjoy solving math problems using coding with Mathemcatica, Mcaulay 2, and SageMath.

In my free time, I like reading, playing classical guitar, and doing martial arts.
